What is your cancellation / refund policy?
We try to be as understanding as possible, but as we only have a small fleet, we are turning customers away once a booking is made for specific dates. If a paid booking date is wished to be amended or subsequently cancelled, the options and cancellation fee for the original booking will apply as follows.
If cancelled up to 30 days prior to pick up:
Full refund or free reschedule within six months within Legend Adventures car availability.
If cancelled 7 to 30 days prior to pick up:
50% of the cost of rental.
If cancelled less than 7 days or are a No Show:
100% of the cost of rental.
Credit Cards Fees are not refundable
What make and model are the Legend Adventure vehicles?
Toyota FJ Cruiser
All of our fleet have an automatic gear box and are right hand drive.
Please note that the vehicles may have height restrictions because of the roof top tent and unable to be parked underground or some covered parking facilities.
Where are you located?
Can I pick up and drop off the vehicle at the airport?
The vehicle will be dropped to you, either at your hotel or airport. For Airport pick up or drop off there will be a small additional cost of $75 each.
What is the minimum number of days for bookings?
Our minimum booking is 3 days
Are there any age limits to rent from you?
Yes. The vehicle is only available to persons aged 25 and over.
What are the vehicle dimensions?

How do I set up the tent?
It’s very easy! Here is a video you can check out in advance.
How do I access the roof top tent?
How many people can your camping vehicle fit?
The vehicle is set up for 2 persons.
The vehicle can accommodate 1 or 2 more persons, and additional tent and equipment can be supplied for an additional cost.
What about SUP and bikes?
Absolutely yes, we offer both SUP & bikes upon request for an additional fee.

Are we allowed to freedom camp or are we only able to visit official camping grounds?
No, freedom camping is not permitted in many places in New Zealand and our vehicles are not self contained.
You should only camp in permitted camping areas. These sites include specific freedom camping spots, DOC camping grounds and private camping grounds.
These areas will provide different levels of facilities depending on cost. All will provide a toilet.
Do we get a guide or a map of the best places to visit?
Yes, you can follow some of our recommended itineraries or places to visit.
Do I need a driver’s licence to rent a Legend Adventure vehicle?
Yes. All drivers are required to have a valid driver’s licence from his or her respective country. If it is not in English you must also present an International Driving Permit or a suitable translation. Licence must be valid for the entire rental period. We expect to see a licence on pick up in order to rent an Adventure Legend vehicle. We do not accept photocopies or digital scanned copies.
Do all drivers need to be present at the time of pick up?
Yes.
All drivers must be present at the time of pick up to present their physical driver’s licence and to sign the rental agreement.
Electronic versions of drivers licences can not be accepted.
What insurance benefits are included?
Our protection plans cover you for all third party vehicle or property damage. However, like any cover, there are exclusions. Please see our daily cover option here. These options can also be seen during the booking process.
